Since winning First Prize at the 2016 Menuhin International Junior Violin Competition in London at the age of 12, Yesong Sophie Lee has been “quickly building an international following as an emerging young virtuoso of outstanding potential” (The Violin Channel). She has received Salon di Virtuosi’s Charlotte White Career Grant and has performed numerous concerts and recitals throughout the U.S. and Europe including performances in Warsaw, Geneva, the Cheltenham, Gower, Oundle, Harrogate, and Gstaad Music Festivals, at the Kronberg Academy Masterclasses and Concerts, and a duo collaboration with Henning Kraggerud at Victoria Hall. She has appeared on NPR’s “From the Top” and performed for Prince Charles at his Welsh home during her concert tour of the UK. As soloist, Lee has performed with numerous orchestras, including the London Philharmonia, Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestre des Cameristi de la Scala, the Seattle Symphony, Detroit Symphony, and with violinist Joshua Bell forthe Richmond Symphony’s annual Gala concert. She also played Henning Kraggerured’s composition, “Duo Gemini” alongside him at Victoria Hall. Upcoming concerts include her debut with the Calgary Philharmonic, return appearances with the Bremerton Symphony and the Academy Chamber Orchestra, her Gala Awards Concert performance at the Kosciuszko Foundation in New York, and solo recitals at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, the Great Lake Center for the Arts in Michigan, Paganini Conservatory in Genoa, and the Resonance Masters Series In Seattle. She will be participating in IMS Prussia Cove on invitation from Steven Isserlis. Yesong is endorsed by Thomastik-Infeld Strings, and performs on a Stradivarius violin, on loan from Rare Violins in Consortium, Artists and Benefactors Collaborative.
